Red Hat will provide PHP 7.1 for RHEL (and CentOS)

Announcement : Red Hat updates Python, PHP, Node.js, more; supports new arches and RHSCL 3.0 Beta Release Notes.

Stability addicts can keep quiet, PHP 5.3.3 is still the standard version provided with RHEL-6, and PHP 5.4.16 the one in RHEL-7

We'll soon have an official and supported way to install PHP version 5.6, 7.0 or 7.1, beside the system version, without any effect on installed components. Announcement tells the life cycle will be 3 years. Provided version is 7.1.8.

It's a beta version, published for evaluation purpose.

RHEL clones (CentOS, Oracle, Scientific Linux, ...) users can use the centos-sclo-rh-testing repository (maintained by the SIG SCLo).

For users who need more extensions, you can use the centos-sclo-sclo-testing repository.

Apart from PHP, RHSCL 3.0 is enhanced by some nice collections, I especially appreciate Mariadb 10.2, MongoDB 3.4 and PostgreSQL 9.6.

I think this is a very important new feature which should help for the adoption of recent PHP version in enterprise environment.
